And on the end...

I came on the end of this wonderful journey. What to say and not cry. :(
It was a one year of scouting, activities, meetings, traveling, sightseeing, hiking, climbing, reclimbing, running, jumping, talking, laughing, crying (of course, I am just a human being), screaming, rolling up, rolling down, rolling deep (oh, that is just a song :P) and lot of other things.
I visited so many places in the Czech Republic, I met a lot of wonderful people, who were my support and my companions during the whole year. And I am very grateful for this. For me, this was, really great experience, I learned something new about people here, Czech culture, history, which, I must admit, I didnt know before, eh, man taught while alive. And Prague, actually "Golden Prague", fascinating city. All those parks, streets, buildings, bridges, gardens, and a lot of other things. For this one year, I think I´ve seen and visited, not everything in Prague, but I can say, enough. And now for sure I can say that I have my favorite park, street, bridge, garden, pub, beer (of course, I am in the CZ, I must :)), bench, tree, stone, path, ect. The best time of my life.
I would like to thank to my Hosting and Sending organization, for the support. And to all Czech scouts, they have made my stay more comfortable and relaxed. Thank you people. :)
And on the end, until next time, scout´s greeting ZDRAVO!

Camping with 2. Unit "Šíp-Neštěmice", Ústí nad Labem

It was wonderful weekend with scouts from Ústí nad Labem. Their campsite lasts three weeks, but I was there only for the weekend. Campsite is in Netolice, village near town Jíčin. I would like to thank 2. Unit for the invitation, and for nice spent time with laughing, singing, exchanging of scout experience, ect. But the best part was the night game. Around the midnight, several scouts, and I, decided to play this game. They tied our eyes with a scarf, and dropped us somewhere, maybe 30km form the campsite. Without map. It was great, until it started to rain, around 4am... But really, it was great experience :)

Skauting pro všechny - Scouting for all

The group "Scouting for all" brings together individuals from the scout movement and the professional community- everybody for whom it is important to open Scouting to all children with special needs.
Individual needs of each child are recognized and met in Junák, so that Scout can fully develop the individual potential of every child and benefit from his/her unique contribution to the group. Handicaps (medical, social, or other) are not an obstacle for the development of the child in the Scout group, or they are as much as possible eliminated to a minimum. Interaction of children in a diverse group leads to their self-knowledge and personal development . The children become tolerant to the limitations and failures of theirs and of the others. Virtually all children know that they are welcome in Scout groups and that if they wish, they can successfully participate in their activities.
The mission of the group "Scouting for all" is to enable all children to grow up in diverse groups. This will contribute to their personal development, greater tolerance in the society and a deeper fulfillment of the mission of Junák as a whole.
Society we live in is essentially diverse. All of us can be enriched by this diversity and we wish, that this natural diversity would be represented in the Scout movement.

ObRok 2011

Every second year a big national rover moot ObRok is held.ObRok(literally BiAnnually)brings together more than 800 young people from all over the Czech Republic, for five days full of exciting program.
This year event took the place in Blansko, town near Brno. It was well organized scout event, with almost 1,000 rovers, plus people from servis team. I was there like a part of the servis team, but all the time I was with participants, with the rovers from Zápy, and with the rovers from Prague. Program consisted of different workshops, games, voluntary work, and some lectures. Also, I was there like a part of the International team, and I had lecture about volunteering(EVS).
Best part for me was day with games, Inspiro Day, when the rovers organized different games, it was so funny and interestingly. And day with voluntary work(Pomoc), all the rovers went to the town and helped to different institutions, such as, hospital, school, kindergarten, senior homes, ect.
And unforgettable workshop was in the forest, climbing with people from Lanáč(http://www.lanac.eu/), really great experience.

Woodbadge School-Gemini in Plzeň

Gemini is woodbadge school, and it´s actually two scout courses in one-woodbadge course Castor and instruktor course Pollux. It consists of four weekends during the year. First weekend, where I was also present, was motivational weekend for Castor team. Castor team is learner team, and when members of this team finish the first part consisting of four weekends, they will be leaders of scou units. The first weekend was the weekend with games. Learner team had a game according to the famous poem Máj(Karel Hynek Mácha). And, after that, they had some lecture.
I noticed that there is a difference between woodbadge school, here and in Serbia. In Serbia, there is one term for school, and usually it lasts for two weeks. Everything is organized in the nature. Learners sleeps in the tents, they have lecture about orientation in the space, about programme, some practical things (how to make different patents from wood, ect.), lectures about pedagogy, ect. And when they finish with woodbadge school, they will be the leaders of different scout units.

Izvidjači-Skauti

I´m living in Prague for four months now, and I had an opportunity to see some important differences between Serbian and Czech scouts. In my opinion, the biggest difference is the sheer number of members in scout association. There are approximately 45000 Czech scouts comparing to 4000 members in Serbia. The second also important difference is in scout program. For example, here, the program for cub scouts follows the story "Jungle book", while in Serbia, program doesn´t have any symbolic framework. Our program for all sections(cub´s, scouts and rovers)is more related to the orientation in the space and time, with elements of skills and agility, connected to some scout craftwork(nodes, raincoat, shelter and etc.). For the Czech couts(age 11-15), there are four handbooks, each per one year. There is an issue with some mythical creature, and issue without one. In this way, a scout is allowed to choose which version he/she wants to follow. Iwas amazed to learn this. In Serbia, no such handbooks exist.
And I must say, while Czech scout association has a big support from the city and companies, scouts in Serbia are not that fotunate. We have support only if there is some big and important event, for example a Jamboree and we lack any kind of support when organizing smaller events, like scout group events. To be honest, that is a matter of government laws and PR management, but we can still learn a thing or two from our Czech friends.
Anyway, regardless of the differences in program and organization, what remains the same is that we are all members of the same scouting family, we live by the same principles and we seek to accomplish the same goal, a better world!

Prague full of ghosts

This event take a place around the second week of January. First competition was made in 1983. by tourists groups from Prague, but it was without participation of scouts (they were prohibited).
Since 2005. it start and finish in the Tyrš House near Kampa. It is open for scouts and for civil people as well. In scouts part it has tree categories: cubs and brownies, scouts and rovers. They have to solve many types of codes. For the older competitors are prepared more difficult codes. When they solve them, they will find names of streets where they can find ghosts. They have time limit to solve codes, and find as many ghosts as possible. The other part is for the civil people and for adults, and they don´t have a time limit. Civil part is open for all people and especially for families with children. Their codes are not so difficult as scouts ones.
Ghosts are from old Prague legends, there is a lot of them, and every year we have different ghosts.
After the race there is program for children and competition Miss Huhula (miss bogy-man), when competitors can vote the best ghost.
I was with cub scouts (66. Cub Unit), and it was very nice experience to run through the streets of Prague trying to find all the ghosts. But we have been so successful, we found all ghosts, we finished race on time, and we had fun. :)
